Spanish oboist Cristina Gómez Godoy combines technical brilliance with musical expressiveness, stunning virtuosity with artistic sensitivity and “miraculously effortless instinctiveness” (Süddeutsche Zeitung). She regularly impresses audiences at major festivals and concert halls around the world with her profound musicality and colour-rich sound. In 2012, at age twenty-one, she joined the Staatskapelle Berlin as solo English Horn. In 2013 Ms. Gómez was appointed principal solo oboist of the orchestra.

Despite her young age, Cristina Gómez Godoy has already  appeared as a soloist with major orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra in the Herkulessaal, with the Orchestra Sinfonica do Estado de São Paulo at Sala São Paulo, with the Filarmónica de Málaga in Spain, with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, and with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Barenboim.

As a valued guest she has played as principal oboe in world leading orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, Filarmonica della Scala di Milano, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, London Symphony Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra among others, and played under renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Andris Nelson, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding, and Alan Gilbert. Daniel Barenboim has also invited her at an early stage of her career to play in his West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. As early as 2008/09 she gained experience in orchestral playing as a solo oboist with the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla.

Highlights of the 2016/17 include Cristina’s debut as a soloist with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and several joint appearances together with Daniel Barenboim for the opening of Pierre Boulez Hall, Berlin’s spectacular new concert venue. She will also appear with American pianist Claire Huangci in Geneva, at Berlin Konzerthaus, Festspiele Mecklenburg Vorpommern, and at the prestigious Ravinia Festival in the US. In addition she will have concerts with Spanish ensemble Moonwinds. Being an avid chamber musician, Cristina Gómez Godoy is widely sought after by colleagues for her versatility and spirit of partnership. She has collaborated with numerous esteemed artists including Daniel Barenboim (performances at the Lucerne Festival, the Salzburg Mozarteum, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Philharmonie Berlin), Guy Braunstein, Claire Huangci, Marc Boushkov, Adrien Boisseau, and Kian Soltani.

Cristina Gómez Godoy received numerous awards in national and international competitions such as the ARD Competition in Munich including the BR-Klassik Prize and Internationaler Instrumentalwettbewerb Markneukirchen. Ms. Gómez gives international master classes in the UK (Royal Academy of Music London), Spain (Congreso de la Asociación de Oboístas y Fagotistas de España), Brazil (Festival Internacional de Inverno de Campos do Jordão), Germany (Universität der Künste Berlin), and Taiwan. In October 2015 she was appointed adjunct faculty at the Universität der Künste Berlin.
