Esther Hoppe, 1st Prize Winner of the 8th International Mozart Competition in Salzburg 2002, is very active both as a chamber musician and soloist. Just recently she´s been apponited 1st concertmaster of the Munich Chamber Orchestra.
Besides winning 1st Prize in Salzburg, Esther Hoppe also won 2nd Prize at the Georges Prêtre Competition in Douai, France, 2001. She has received numerous other awards and scholarships such as the Award for the Youth of Zug, twice the Prize of the Kiefer Hablitzel Foundation as well as twice the Migros Award.
In 2003 she co-founded the Tecchler Trio. Since its beginning this group has been very successful, winning the German Music Competition 2004, the prestigious „Prix Crédit Suisse Jeunes Solistes“ 2004 and the Migros Chamber Music Competition 2005. In September 2007 the Tecchler Trio was awarded 1st Prize at the 56th International ARD Competition in Munich. It's only the 4th time in the competition's history that a first prize has been given to a piano trio. (see also www.tecchlertrio.com).Esther Hoppe was invited to tour the U.S., Japan, India and many countries in Europe, and performed in prestigious places such as Wigmore Hall London, Herkules Saal Munich, Tchaikovsky Conservatory Moscow, Salamanca Hall Gifu, Mozarteum Salzburg and Wiener Konzerthaus.
Esther Hoppe is to be heard on recordings with the Tecchler Trio (Ars Musici and Concentus Records) as well as on a CD with works by Saint-Saens, with Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Frank Braley, Michel Dalberto, Emmanuel Pahud, Paul Meyer (Virgin Classics).
Born in Zug, Switzerland, she studied with Thomas Füri at the Music Academy in Basel, Switzerland, before being accepted to the famous Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, USA, where she worked with Robert Mann and Ida Kavafian. She there received her Artist Diploma in 2000 and then did her postgraduate studies as a student of the late Yfrah Neaman at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She finished her studies in Zurich with Nora Chastain.
The Zuger Kantonalbank enables her to play on a Balestrieri Violin from 1760.
