Dear Friends,

It is with great joy I can welcome artists, audience and young musicians to this third celebration of Festival Turina, a Festival dedicated to the Seville composer Joaquín Turina and the art of chamber music. During 8 days, Internationally acclaimed musicians, students and audience of all ages will come together in Seville to connect through music. It is my wish, and belief, that each concert and activity at the Festival Turina reaches the essence of true music making, and awakens through music, the human emotions needed to make each one of us feel alive.

I am proud of presenting the musicians 2011, all of them making an invaluable contribution to the Festival and the town of Seville with their endless energy and enthusiasm, not only giving concerts, but also generously sharing their knowledge with the young generation of musicians. The concerts take place in some of Seville's most historical buildings, among them the famous church of the Monastery of La Cartuja, the house of the Family Salinas, the informal "Bar CarbonerÌa", and the CapitanÌa General at Plaza de España with it´s treasure of a concert hall opened to the public especially for our Festival, and aswell the concerthall in the Fundacion Cajasol. The Monastery Santa Clara is hosting the orchestra and the new matinée series "Ciclo Jóvenes Músicos", and our main residence for rehearsals and master classes is the Conservatory Cristobal de Morales, with it´s generous and supportive staff year after year.

I am truly grateful to each one of the public institutions, sponsors, collaborators and volunteers whom with their personal interest and dedication are making this Festival possible. It is with the desire to contribute to the musical life in Seville that Festival Turina is being created, and with the wish of giving the audience, students and musicians lasting, musical memories that the Festival Turina once more is taking place. We all look forward to see you in Seville, "The City of Music", for this special, musical event."

Sincerely, Benedicte Palko, Artistic Director.
